The Iranian nuclear deal for dummies

The first thing to understand about the Great Powers nuclear deal with Tehran is that it is designed to permit US President Barack Obama to exit the White House in January 2017 without having to use American military force against Iran. Otherwise the nuclear accord makes no sense. It is becoming more and more apparent that the accord lacks the teeth to convince Iran that it will pay an intolerable price if it crosses the nuclear threshold in the future. Dennis Ross, a former presidential adviser, contends that Washington must clarify this will spark a military response. In addition to a more aggressive posture, the US should even supply Israel with bunker busters and aircraft capable of destroying nuclear weapons targets. Ross makes no bones about it. Washington should inform Tehran that if she starts enriching uranium above the agreed limit, this would trigger an American military strike. But the opposite is happening.

President Obama, tell us the truth about the Iranian nuclear deal!

Granted, this will allow you to exit the White House in January of 2017 with your Nobel Prize intact, but what of the longer term impact on your successors? Last but not least, what about Israel and the Sunni Arab states which are in Iran's nuclear crosshairs but which were totally excluded by the Great Powers in the crucial talks? Meanwhile the Iranians are not even helping you sell the nuclear package that is so full of holes.

Iran wants it all: A-bombs with no sanctions

Menashe Amir, an Israeli expert on Iran, says there will be no deal because Tehran is locked into its nuclear weapons project and will not give it up. Amir told IsraCast that nuclear weapons are a cornerstone for her foreign, domestic and Islamist ideologies. The international community and the Obama administration are finally waking up to the truth of this harsh reality. The Islamist regime perceives A-Bombs as vital to furthering its dominant role in both the Muslim and international arenas. In addition, it serves as an insurance policy for preserving its power at home. Once it acquires A-Bombs no foreign power will try to mess with the regime.

‘First we take Cairo – then we take Jerusalem!’

Islamic State now poses a real and present danger to Israel's southern flank of Egyptian controlled Sinai. The IDF has reacted by stepping up its alert along the Sinai border that includes closing Highway 12, which runs along the frontier. In 2011, Jihadists crossed the border in a daring raid that killed eight Israelis. The terrorists have also rocketed Israel's Red Sea port of Eilat. But the ferocity of the IS combined operation against numerous Egyptian military targets signal a sharp escalation and threat, not only to Cairo but also Jerusalem.

There will be no change until Muslims wake up

Nearly 40 Muslims were murdered last Friday in a mosque in Kuwait. Dozens of Egyptian soldiers were killed on Wednesday. In between, another 103 Muslims were massacred in the city of Kobani in Syria, another 50 in the village of Lego in Somalia and 28 others in Sana'a, Yemen. We don’t know about all terror attacks in real time. In 2013, nearly 18,000 people were murdered in terror attacks, and in 2014 the number crossed 32,000. Almost all of them were Muslims. In addition, there are the victims of the wars in the Muslim world, so the estimates are that 132,000-174,000 Muslims were killed in 2014. And that's before mentioning the millions of refugees whose situation is deteriorating.

It's time to change the rules of the game

Terror is a global thing. It has nothing to do with the Israeli-Arab conflict in general, or with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in particular. Too many in the world – the "forces of progress" brigades, which have a lot of power in the global media and in Western academia – it's still unclear. But last Friday, global jihad sent three additional clarifications – in France, in Tunisia and in Kuwait.

SAUDI ARABIA: IF OBAMA ALLOWS IRAN TO GO NUCLEAR, SO WILL WE!

Obama had invited the leaders of the six Persian Gulf allies to Washington with the aim of persuading them to back his planned nuclear deal with Iran, their arch enemy. After the White House first announced that the new Saudi King Salman would attend, the monarch gave Obama the cold shoulder by rejecting the invitation. In a jibe at Obama, King Salman said he was too busy fighting the Iranian backed threat from Yemen. Three other Gulf leaders followed suit by sending lower level officials in an obvious snub. Obama was planning to offer the Gulf Cooperation Council members stepped up military aid in return for going along with the deal that would leave Iran with 5,000 centrifuges (for producing enriched uranium for A-bombs as well as an advanced nuclear research project and the capability for ballistic missiles to deliver the nuclear warheads).

Arab, Jewish teens shoot for the moon

Asaf Brimer spent 25 years in the Israeli air force and aerospace sector before an idea came into his mind like a shooting star across the horizon: He would bring Israeli Arab and Jewish students together through a collaborative research center focused on outer space.

Moona — a Space for Change officially opened in September last year in Majd Al-Kurum, a Muslim village 10 miles east of Acre (Akko) in the Western Galilee. So far, it has attracted about 100 high school students – roughly a 50-50 split between Jewish and Muslim teens – for weekly courses in robotics, drones, 3D printing, electronics and other technologies related to outer-space exploration. Families from the area also are welcome at Moona.

SUNNI ARAB STATES TAKE ON IRAN IN YEMEN

The flashpoint between Shiite and Sunni Islam has erupted in Yemen. After Shiite Iran armed Houthi rebels to the hilt, they have ousted the Sunni regime of Sunni President Abd Mansour Hadi. Neighboring Saudi Arabia has had enough. The Sunni regime in Riyadh has launched a major offensive into Yemen with 100 aircraft and an estimated 150,000 troops. Egypt has also dispatched troops, ships and aircraft to fight against the Shiite rebels in Yemen.

OBAMA'S NEW STRATEGY ON IRAN ...

Is the leader of the free world about to embark on a new grand strategy that will grant the ayatollahs in Tehran more or less what they want at this stage for their nuclear weapons program in return for their aid in fighting ISIL? This foreign policy shift is now being pondered in the capitals of Cairo, Riyadh, Amman, let alone Jerusalem, America's long-term allies.

IDF Maj. Gen. (res) Yaakov Amidror, a former commander of Military Intelligence, has just returned from Washington where, although he found it hard to believe, he learned that senior officials in the Obama administration are actually weighing such an option. In other words, the U.S. is considering the use of soft power by easing on Iran's nuclear weapons project in return for enlisting Iranian military support against ISIL.

KISSINGER & SCHULTZ ALSO 'UNEASY' ABOUT IRANIAN DEAL

The diplomatic fog is slowly lifting over the Iranian nuclear crisis. After the latest March 31st deadline for America's controversial talks with the Iranians, and after Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's upcoming address to the U.S. Congress it should be visible, to all who wish to see, whether President Barak Obama has agreed to a bad deal that will allow the Ayatollahs in Tehran to eventually get their hands on A-bombs. In light of the U.S. conduct of the talks it is looking more and more like a fait accompli: the sides are simply going through the motions now and doing the fine tuning on the done deal.

Forget about Israeli leaders like Netanyahu and pundits like me who take a grim view of how Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Foreign Minister Javad Zarif have been conning Kerry and Obama. (Why wouldn't they be grinning all the time if they're getting their way?).

The world is helpless against jihad

It's no longer a war with a radical organization. It's something else. Something the human mind finds difficult to deal with. There are wars. There is brutality against rivals and enemies. There are exceptions in every war. But when it comes to jihad, horror is a norm. Slaughtering a person in front of the cameras appeared to be the lowest point. We were wrong. The burning of the Jordanian pilot clarifies that we are witnessing something much darker. Pure evil that is turned into a snuff film.

ISLAMIC STATE & TURKISH GENOCIDE OF ARMENIANS

What do Jimmy Carter, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and BBC reporters have in common? Either they don't like, or in fact hate Israel. Look at their recent comments on the cause of the recent Muslim terror attacks in Paris:

When Jon Stewart asked Carter if religion played a role in the Paris atrocities, Carter replied:

'One of the origins for it is the Palestinian problem, and this aggravates people who are affiliated in any way with the Arab people who live in the West Bank and Gaza - what they're doing now - what's being done to them. So I think that's part of it'.

FRANCE'S '9/11' IN PARIS

France is reeling and trying to come to grips with an Islamist terror attack that has rocked it to its very core. The cold-blooded killers who shot dead two policemen and then systematically executed the ten caricaturists and editors of the Charlie Hebdo satirical weekly not only committed a massacre, but also dealt a severe blow to the very foundations of the French republic. It would appear to be on a lesser scale of the '9/11' atrocity that shocked America and the world more than thirteen years ago. The writing was on the wall, written in blood, for President Francois Hollande and the French government, after French Jihadists repeatedly attacked Jews in France and Brussels. However these were passed off as isolated incidents or carried out by 'deranged' individuals. But now the Jihadists have perpetrated a carefully planned slaughter that has wiped out a French magazine because it dared to lampoon the prophet Mohammed. In fleeing the scene, one of the killers casually walked up to a wounded policeman lying on the sidewalk and calmly shot him in the head. He then walked to the get away car and shouted:

'Allah is great', and 'We have avenged the prophet Mohammed!'

The Problem with Islam

Any debate on Islam in Muslim countries and among Muslim communities in the West is like stepping into a minefield. When it comes to the media outlets and academe, for the most part, the subject of Islam sparks a convoluted and apologetic discourse; on the social networks, on the other hand, the discourse it prompts is a racist one.

The thing is there's a problem. It's hissing and bubbling. Many Muslims realize there's a problem. The Egyptian president spoke recently of "a need to effect a substantial change in Islam." And in 2004, Abdulrahman al-Rashed, the former general manager of the al-Arabiya television news channel, said: "It is a certain fact that not all Muslims are terrorists, but it is equally certain, and exceptionally painful, that almost all terrorists are Muslims."

The New Euro-Muslim States

Once again, the "European Union" is forgetting about everything and dealing only with Israel and the Jews – a well-known and popular habit in Europe for hundreds (the Jews) and dozens (Israel) of years. But this time it's different: The distance between the continent and the Muslim world is becoming increasingly shorter, and a new historical term can be coined: "Euro-Muslim states."

Just like the Arab world did all in its power to harm the young Israel, the same trend is taking shape in the European Union as well. While in the past we talked about the Westernization of the Arab world, we are now talking about the Arabization of Europe. The Arab League boycotted Israel from its very first day, and the "European Union" may now follow in its footsteps.

FEINSTEIN ON CIA TORTURE & ISRAELI METHODS

How do Israel's security service interrogations of Jihadist terrorists compare with the 'enhanced terror interrogations' of the CIA that have been sharply criticized by the Feinstein Report in Washington? 'Moderate physical pressure' is the guideline rendered by Israel's Supreme Court on security service interrogations of suspected terrorists. Like the U.S. today, the Jewish state has wrestled over the years on just how far to go in interrogating terrorists in order to save lives. The issue came to a head in 1984 with the 'The 300 bus-line affair'. Four Arab terrorists from the Gaza Strip hijacked an Israeli bus and threatened to blow it and the passengers up unless Israel released prisoners. They ordered the bus driver to head for Egypt via the Gaza Strip, but on the way IDF soldiers shot out its tires. Later, Sayeret Matkal commandos stormed the bus killing two terrorists and capturing the two others. One Israeli passenger was killed and seven others wounded. Then, in blatant violation of Israeli law, the chief of the Shin Bet security service ordered his agents at the scene to exit the two captured terrorists.

The Jews of Portugal

The history of Portugese Jewry is like that of many other places, where success and sadness go hand in hand. Walking along Lisbon’s streets, remnants remain of Portugal’s rich Jewish life. Sparks of Portugal’s past can be found in the remote mountain villages, where the some of the last remaining Marrano communities can still be found practicing Jewish rituals behind closed doors, fear of persecutions still looming. Today, the Jewish community of Portugal numbers approximately 600 people.

What about the Jewish Nakba?

"If the Jewish state becomes a fact, and this is realized by the Arab peoples, they will drive the Jews who live in their midst into the sea." This statement was made by Hassan al-Banna, the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood, about a month and a half after the declaration of the independence, and with the Egyptian Army already having invaded the territory allotted to the Jewish state. The Mufti, Haj Amin al-Husseini, explained in his memoirs: "Our fundamental condition for cooperating with Germany was a free hand to eradicate every last Jew from Palestine and the Arab world."

And the Arab League at the time also adopted two decisions, which materialized into a bill designed to seize the bank accounts of Jews and strip them of their possessions – a bill that was subsequently put into practice among well-established and wealthy Jewish communities in places such as Egypt, Libya, Syria and Iraq. Entire communities were destroyed.

ISRAEL - DESPERATE SITUATION REQUIRES DESPERATE REMEDIES

This was the message from Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, after two Palestinian terrorists, armed with a handgun and meat cleaver, ran into a Jerusalem synagogue and hacked and shot four Jewish worshippers to death and wounded eight other Israelis. This is what happened:

At approximately 7:AM, Jewish worshippers were in the middle of the early morning prayer of Shaharit at the Tehilat Yaakov synagogue in the religious neighborhood of Har Nof, when two young Palestinians drove up in their car, parked it nearby, and then ran unhindered into the synagogue. (Most public buildings in Israel have armed guards at the entrance but synagogues do not - no one thought that Palestinians would stoop to executing terror attacks on holy sites.) They immediately began shooting and hacking at the unsuspecting worshippers, who were already wrapped in their prayer shawls. Eyewitnesses later described how the killers moved from one victim to another, one terrorist was firing all the time, and the other was hacking victims with his big meat cleaver. All the while they were shouting 'Allah Akbar!'
