Is Syria's President Bashar Assad sincere in his peace overtures to Israel? On one hand Assad offers peace talks but on the other he has forged a strategic alliance with Iran which threatens to wipe the Jewish state off the map. Then again is the Syrian dilemma facing Israel's Prime Minister Ehud Olmert also linked to such issues as the  U.S. war in Iraq, Iran's nuclear weapons program and the future of Lebanon? Professor Eyal Zisser, one of Israel's leading analysts on Syria, discussed where the current situation may be headed in this interview with reporter David Essing:

Reactions to the Holocaust Conference

Iran opened a conference on Monday to question whether the Holocaust ever took place, despite widespread condemnation by Western countries, including Germany. The conference will question whether gas chambers were used to exterminate six million Jews. The Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has repeatedly questioned the truth of the Holocaust, at one point describing the event as a "myth" and casting doubt on the scale of the killings. 


New Facts on Captured Reservists' Condition

IDF reservists Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser, who was captured by the Hizbullah on July 12, apparently suffered serious-to-critical wounds. The IDF Censor approved the publication of those facts on Wendsday.

A short time before his assassination at a peace rally in Tel Aviv, Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin discussed some of the key issues in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in an exclusive interview, part of which is now broadcast for the first time. It was one of Rabin's last in-depth interviews before he was shot dead by Yigal Amir on November 4th 1995.
